Malaysia - retired migrants

Malaysia

Malaysia My Second Home Programme is a programme promoted by the Malaysian Government as part of its policy to encourage citizens of all bonded countries to reside permanently in Malaysia. It allows foreigners who meet certain criteria to obtain a multiple-entry social visa for long-term residence in Malaysia. The multiple-entry social visas are valid for 5 years and can be renewed.

The scheme is open to applications from citizens of countries recognised by Malaysia regardless of race, religion, sex or age. The scheme allows the applicant to bring along their spouse, parents and children. Foreign spouses and expatriates of Malaysian citizens can apply for the scheme to retire in Malaysia upon expiry of their working visas.

Strictly speaking, the "Second Home" is not a full immigration scheme, but rather a long-term conditional residency scheme with no visa requirement. Or rather, it is a kind of expatriate privilege and status. Because, unlike other immigrants, it is not subject to immigration supervision abroad. It needs to be filed at home. It is possible to reside without having to live in the country.

This more liberal status can be set aside when it is not necessary.

But it can be granted many privileges other than residency when necessary. As long as the main applicant applies for the second home plan alone, the whole family does not need to spend any extra money on the second home plan, one applicant, three generations, parents over 60 years old accompanying the family.
